Under the patronage of Ministry of Awqaf & Islamic Affairs, Indian Muslim Association-Ladies Wing Community development department, Kuwait conducted a Webinar on Stress Management in the light of Qur’an and Sunnah” on 24th August,2023.

“Stress can be defined as a state of worry or mental tension caused by a difficult situation.

And stress management is the process of acquiring and practicing a variety of cognitive and behavioral techniques with the goal of managing and coping with stress”.

It was a complete family program and the topics were very well explained by the renowned speakers from India.

Verily, in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find rest (Qur’an 13:28) by -Mrs. Shameema Khanum and how to manage stress in day to day life by – Dr. Khan Mubashshrah Firdous (M.A in Psychology NET-Education and PhD in Child psychology).

Mrs. Shameema Khanum explained in her speech that we should completely surrender ourselves to the Creator. Hearts find peace when you revert to your Creator physically and spiritually.

She also explained that there are 4 doors to our heart i.e., our eyes, our ears, our tongue and our intelligence, which we should always keep in our control. We should utilize these 4 doors wisely and benefit ourselves.

Keep always faith in your Creator, be patient in your bad times and never take wrong decisions in anger or in tension. Now a days suicide is considered as one of the easiest ways to escape from worries and difficulties of life, especially by youngsters. But even after death the person who committed suicide will be punished in the hereafter as well.

At the end, she said the more you trust your Creator the more you will be close to him.

You will get mental peace and rest only when you are connected to your Creator.

 

The second speaker Dr. Khan Mubashshrah Firdous, one of the well-known speaker and counselor from India explained what is stress and how to tackle it to be stress free in your life. In our day to day life stress affects peace at home, job performance at work, grades in school and even our eating and pairing behavior.

Stress can lead to Hypertension, Coronary artery disease, diabetes, depression, tension, headache, insomnia, impotency (in men), frigidity (in Women), suppression of immune system, development of cancer etc.

Initiator of stress is Comparison which is very common in families. Parents should be extra careful to avoid comparison between children, which leads to stress.

She also explained how to manage our emotions. First of all, we have to Identify ourselves, regulate, motivate, empathize and work on social skill development which will lead to a happy and prosperous life.

She quoted many verses from Qur’an which teaches us how to tackle in difficult situations and the Creator never overburdens us.

One of the verse from Surah Al-Baqarah (2:286) says that.

 “Our Creator does not charge a soul except [with that within] its capacity. It will have [the consequence of] what [good] it has gained, and it will bear [the consequence of] what [evil] it has earned”.

She explained that how Prayers and supplications improve our mental and spiritual status. We have to be always thankful to what we have and what we don’t. Always keep faith in our Creator who never lets us down.

The session was ended with Q&A and vote of thanks.

Nearly 245 participants from India, Pakistan, Kuwait, Oman utilized the session and requested for more such sessions to be organized. Many positive feed backs were received and audience requested for recording of the session. Overall it was a very successful and useful session for the betterment of community.
